About

Hi, I’m Georgina and I opened Iremía Pottery in 2020 after potting part-time for a few years whilst working as an academic and translator. And now I just can’t stop!

I always found ceramics incredibly relaxing, a way of escaping from stress. Rather like the Greek beaches of my family holidays as a child (hence the name), I found there was calm about pottery, but it was also fun and uplifting, even when it went wrong!

I really wanted to pass on that feeling of escape, peace and happiness through pottery, so I started teaching both hand building and throwing (on the wheel) in late 2020.

I also have over twenty years’ experience teaching languages and translation and was able to bring those skills to the studio. So, if you’re interested in trying out pottery, check out my upcoming classes, or drop me a line.

Over the last three years, I’ve continued to develop my own pottery skills. I make bespoke pieces on request (vases, wedding bowls, cake stands and more) and sell at local craft fairs. Soon my pots will be available online, so watch this space!
